New Headset

Well I've killed my 5,1 Medusas :(

After 2 years of continuous use they finally bit the dust and died. The volume control went well haywire and either went FULL BLAST or mute.

So i've had to go and buy a new set. Looked all over and finally plumped for Sharkoon Majestic 5.1 (New V3) with external sound card including high end amplifier, vibrating bass and inbuilt mic.

I get them on Tuesday so meantime have to use a crappy pair of Plantronics.

Anyone use the Sharkoons?

I've got some, not sure if they are V3 or not though. I like them, they are pretty big and heavy but have plenty of padding so are very comfortable to wear.

I don't use them for CS:S as much as I should but when I do I tend to do a lot better. There are 4 volume controls so you can customise the sound set up so certain types of sound are louder. When I listen to live music I can turn one of the volume controls up and listen to what the people in the crowd are saying.

Raven, you didn't say: "Sharkoon Majestic 5.1 (New V3) with external sound card including high end amplifier, vibrating bass and inbuilt mic."

Oh no, I recently read that particular headset was responsible for serious ear infections due to the intense heat it could not release. There are talks of major recalls here in the States. Hope you have good medical insurance.

Ok, I must admit my jealously regarding your new acquisition forced me to tease you….

My hope was you spent a lot of money and would go into crisis mode in attempt to return said product.

But recognizing your old age, I didn’t want to induce a heart attack, so I have to come clean to the fact; I was just giving ya xxxx….. Have a great day my friend!!

That sounds a bit bizarre. They are heavily padded and your ears do get warm while you wear them, but no more so than if you wear a hat that covers your ears.

It's not like the headphones get hot themselves, it's just that your ears are covered. Which is exactly the same as the last headphones I had, they also made my ears get warm after a while but it was never a problem.

bah, got me. My response was posted before I'd read your second post ^^

Well they've arrived at my work this morning.

They look the part and aren't any bigger or bulkier than the Medusa's were.

So i'll set them up later tonight and give you my opinion tomorrow.
